Terms and conditions

Last updated 28 August 2026

The short of it: we arrange hotel stays, the hotel provides them, and the terms for your particular stay are always set out in black and white before you confirm.

1 · Who we are

BookHonest, CVR 45847683, the number in the Danish Central Business Register. BookHonest is a personally owned business, not a limited company, and it sells from Denmark.

These terms apply to both of our addresses, bookhonest.com and bookhonest.dk. It is the same site and the same seller whichever address you came in through; one forwards automatically to the other.

You reach us at support (at) bookhonest.com and on +45 30 72 37 22, weekdays 13:00 to 21:00 GMT in winter, 12:00 to 20:00 GMT in summer.

How we handle your personal data is set out in the privacy policy.

2 · Our role: we are an intermediary

We arrange hotel stays. The contract for the stay itself is made between you and the hotel, arranged through our wholesale supplier, which is the link between us and the hotels.

Responsibility is divided like this. The hotel is responsible for the stay: the room, the beds, the pool, the service. We are responsible for arranging it: that the booking goes through correctly, that the confirmation reaches you, and that what we tell you is accurate.

If something is wrong with the stay, you are not left on your own: contact us, and we will take the matter up with the hotel and the supplier on your behalf. See section 8.

3 · Not a package holiday

We sell one hotel stay at a time, not flights, not transport, not packages. A hotel stay on its own is a single travel service, so the contract is neither a package nor a linked travel arrangement under the Danish Package Travel Act (lov om pakkerejser og sammensatte rejsearrangementer).

It also means the purchase is not covered by the Danish Travel Guarantee Fund (Rejsegarantifonden). We say it as it is, so you know exactly what you are buying.

4 · Prices and payment

Prices are shown in the currency of your own country where we support it, and otherwise in Danish kroner. The currency is stated next to every amount, and it is the currency your card is charged in. The price you see is the price you pay, and we add no fees along the way.

One thing can come on top, and we do not hide it: some cities charge a local tourist tax that the hotel collects itself on arrival. Where the hotel collects it, the amount is stated on the hotel page next to the rate you choose, and in the confirmation, before you pay. Everything else, taxes and duties, is included in the price from the outset.

If you pay with a card in a currency other than the one shown, your own bank handles the conversion and any currency fee. It is not something we add.

Payment is made by payment card when you confirm the booking. Should the price have changed between the search and the booking, you see the new price before you confirm, never afterwards.

If you instead ask us to book manually, you do not pay straight away. We send you a secure payment link, and the stay is not reserved until the payment has gone through. The price in the payment link is the one you were quoted.

5 · Cancellation: the rate decides

Every stay has its own cancellation terms, and they follow the rate you choose. The terms are always shown before you confirm the booking, and repeated in the confirmation.

  • Some rates can be cancelled free of charge until a given date.
  • Other rates are cheaper, but cannot be refunded once booked.

To cancel, call +45 30 72 37 22, weekdays 13:00 to 21:00 GMT in winter, 12:00 to 20:00 GMT in summer, or write to support (at) bookhonest.com, and we will handle it under the terms that applied to your booking.

6 · Right of withdrawal: there is none

We will say it straight: there is no 14-day right of withdrawal on hotel stays.

Contracts for accommodation on a particular date, or for a particular period, are exempt from the ordinary right of withdrawal on purchases made online. That follows from section 18(2)(12) of the Danish Consumer Contracts Act (forbrugeraftaleloven). The rule is the same for everyone who sells dated travel services. The difference is that we write it here, instead of hiding it.

What applies once you have confirmed is the cancellation terms of the stay, see section 5. You saw them before you paid.

7 · Changes to a booking

If you want to change dates, names or room, contact us. Whether the change can be made depends on the hotel's terms and on the rooms available. If the change costs anything, you are told the amount before you say yes.

8 · If something is not as stated

Tell the hotel reception straight away; that gives the hotel the chance to put it right on the spot. Contact us at the same time, and we will take the matter up with the hotel and the supplier.

If something we told you did not hold, we put it right. That is what the whole business rests on. Your rights under Danish consumer law apply in full alongside these terms.

9 · Liability

The hotel is responsible for delivering the stay. We are responsible for arranging it, and for the information on the site being correct at the time of booking.

Neither of us is responsible for circumstances outside reasonable control, for example natural disasters, orders from the authorities, or a third party's systems going down. If something of that kind affects your stay, we help find the best solution available.

10 · Complaints

Write to us first at support (at) bookhonest.com; most things are settled there.

Once you have complained to us without reaching a result, you can complain to the Danish Centre for Complaint Resolution, Center for Klageløsning, Nævnenes Hus, Toldboden 2, 8800 Viborg, naevneneshus.dk.

If you live in another EU or EEA country, you can also use the consumer complaint bodies where you live.

11 · Governing law

The contract is governed by Danish law. Mandatory consumer protection rules always take precedence over these terms.

If you live in another EU or EEA country, you keep the protection your own country's mandatory consumer rules give you, and you can always bring proceedings before the courts where you live. We can only bring proceedings against you in that same place. If you are resident in Denmark, disputes are settled by the Danish courts.
